1 September 2009

Cambridge, UK - September 1, 2009 - Amino Communications, the world's largest independent IPTV specialist, today unveils a new sleek, cost effective and powerful compact IPTV PVR to meet the growing market demand for high performance, high definition (HD) products.

The A532 is an HD, comprehensively specified IPTV set-top box (STB), with integral PVR capability, increased memory and advanced codec support. The innovative modular design allows the STB to be expanded into a hybrid solution within the same casing. In line with Amino's tradition of award-winning design, the A532 comes in a stylish, curved, black or silver casing that measures just 172mm x 180mm x 48mm, one of the smallest, yet feature-rich, HD STBs in today's market.

Supported by Amino's extensive ecosystem of middleware, browser, conditional access and DRM options, the A532 meets the widely varying configurations of the IPTV market. With PVR capability, it allows operators to maximise their revenues through advanced service features, with the comfort of knowing the STB will continue to deliver the high performance required by the fast developing demands of the IPTV market.

The support of advanced low bitrate video codecs also provides operators with the opportunity to grow revenue generating services, while maximising the efficient use of network bandwidth and creating the ability to:
- Reach a greater number of subscribers
- Increase the number of available interactive and multicast channels
- Enhance the HD channel viewing experience

With HD TVs becoming established in living rooms around the world, consumers want to watch more and more HD programming. The A532 helps deliver the increased detail and realism of HD programming at 720p and 1080i resolutions.

The A532 has increased resources to handle more complex and sophisticated user interfaces, and the integral hard disk drive delivers time shift recording, pause live TV, and push-VoD capabilities. Significantly, the A532 is also a fan-less design, making for a virtually silent STB in consumers' home.

When combined with suitable middleware, the A532 also supports multi-room PVR capability, expanding the advantages of PVR beyond the living room to other STBs throughout the house.

The A532 can be extended to support hybrid applications with the addition of optional broadcast front-ends and can therefore address the developing trend for IP STBs to receive and manage content from a variety of sources.

Amino CEO Andrew Burke said: "This exciting new compact PVR is designed with our customers and our customers' customers in mind. Stylish, powerful and feature rich ? this compact, hybrid compatible PVR meets the needs of today's fast-moving IPTV market and the demand for products that match consumer's sophisticated tastes.

"As the pure IPTV specialist, we focus very hard on delivering the right products at the right price for our customers and we're delighted to unveil the A532 as the latest addition to our award-winning portfolio."
