New inexpensive set-top box enhances hotel room entertainment

Saves the cost of installing a PC in every hotel room A new inexpensive set-top box from Amino enhances the services that hotels can offer guests through the TVs in their rooms. Using the AmiNET210H, guests can watch digital-quality programmes and movies at their leisure, including digital TV, and can access the Internet as well as hotel services and local information. This saves the hotel the cost of installing a PC in each room and enables, for the first time, all of these services to be accessed using just one small set-top box not much larger than a paperback book.

The AmiNET210H offers the guest a wide range of viewing flexibility, including the ability to choose a movie from a broad selection offered by the hotel and watch it at any time. Further to this, the AmiNET210H saves hotels money and space given to housing central video banks. It also provides interactive data services, which could be set up to allow a guest to find a local restaurant or the time of a flight, for example. All local entertainment listings and conference timetables, or other concierge services could be provided in an easy to use format customised to the hotel’s own style.

The user can operate the set-top box using its remote control or keyboard, which also enable the usual play, pause, fast-forward and rewind functions. Small in size, measuring just 212 x 133 x 31mm, the device is intended to bolt onto the underside of a desk or shelf and is therefore unobtrusive and inconspicuous.
