Amino announces European availability of new A150 IPTV device – with range of performance, content and user experience enhancements

Amino, leader in IPTV, today announces the European commercial availability of its new A150 IPTV set-top box - offering a range of performance, content and user experience enhancements.

Powered by a dual core Broadcom BCM7231 SoC, the device offers a range of new features and enhancements including:

- Improved consumer experiences with graphically rich user interfaces and smoother and faster transitions alongside improved 2D and 3D graphic effects. In addition to full HD quality video, the A150 supports dual 1080p60 decode for full screen playback and picture-in-picture (PiP). There is also support for Opera’s SDK 3.6 browser, delivering improved animation, security and performance

- More content delivered from anywhere - whether it’s managed IP, OTT or from the home network the A150 can seamlessly manage and integrate it all. The A150 also includes Amino’s field-proven HLS/HTTP “trickplay” solution, alongside the latest in OTT video delivery standards and content protection

- The Amino TV App Store – a wide range of pre-integrated “made for TV” and ready-to-play apps covering entertainment, news and sport - all delivered through the cloud. Plus operators can customise the look and feel of the app store to align with their own branded TV presence

Amino CEO Donald McGarva said: “The new A150 is designed to meet operator demands for high performing devices that deliver great entertainment experiences. While it’s positioned as a mainstream device, it does includes a range of value-added enhancements – including pre-integrated content via the Amino TV Apps Store – with the capability to support our home monitoring and control solution in the future.

“Plus, of course, it’s underpinned by our global reputation for great reliability – with industry-leading low RMAs – that is a key factor for operators looking to reduce operational and engineering costs.” Initially, the A150 will be available in the European market only offering Opera browser SDK support.

From Q3 2014, the devices will also include Amino Home Reach home monitoring and control functionality – delivered via a simple USB dongle that plugs into the device. Designed to offer a range of “peace of mind” services, Amino Home Reach is an operator-grade cloud-based solution that includes in-home Wi-fi cameras, movement and door sensors – all accessed by a smartphone or tablet app. A PVR version – the A550 – will also be available from Q4 this year, when both products will be launched in the North American market.

The A150 is fully aligned with key Amino ecosystem partners and the latest digital rights management developments and Verimatrix CA compliance.
