Amino announces middleware integration for set-top box with PVR

PVR enabling middleware from Minerva and Myrio ported to the AmiNET500

Cambridge, UK, 17th November 2004: Amino Communications today announced the availability of two major middleware applications for its AmiNET500 IPTV (Internet protocol TV) set-top box with integral PVR (personal video recorder). The new Minerva iTVManager 2 and Myrio Interactive 3.5 client software have now been ported to the AmiNET500, enabling Telcos to seamlessly upgrade subscriber offerings to include PVR functions on live television broadcasts. These include scheduled record from EPG, viewing one channel whilst recording another, pause, fast-forward and reverse, and slow motion frame-by-frame. Both applications were demonstrated at TelcoTV in Orlando, Florida.

"PVR is a critical feature for broadband service providers to offer to their subscribers. The timing of our launch positions us well as market adoption and deployment heats up. We are pleased to add the AmiNET500 to the list of Amino set-top boxes supported by the Myrio iDK." commented Ryan Petty, vice president of product management at Myrio.

Roy Kirsopp, CEO of Amino Communications LLC added, "Our close working relationship with middleware providers benefits the Telcos, and their television subscribers, as we are able to offer new features like PVR which are fully integrated with their existing systems. Our customers are already showing strong demand as they can now offer subscribers the AmiNET500 PVR as an upgrade option."

"PVR is generating a lot of interest in the IPTV market - once again, by working closely with Amino, we will provide a robust and tightly integrated solution to our customers," said Jean-Georges Fritsch, COO of Minerva Networks.
