Cambridge, UK, 31st January 2005: Amino Communications has expanded its global reach by partnering with a leading South African distributor, NuLAN Multimedia. The company will supply IPTV set-top boxes from Amino’s AmiNET range and will offer rapid product delivery and local support.

South Africa's NuLAN Multimedia offers on-demand IPTV services to hotel and hospitality, property development, health and distance learning markets. “We aim to make consumer choice of television and film channels an affordable option in South Africa,” explained Wynand Kruger, marketing director, NuLAN Multimedia. “IPTV solutions are less expensive for customers and allow them to choose which services they want to receive and access a generally more user-friendly and interactive service,” he continued, “In 2005 more Telcos will realise the added value of offering IPTV on-demand services which will encourage more growth in this emerging market. New generation IPTV set-top boxes such as the AmiNET500 with in-built personal video recorder will also open the market, especially in areas such as distance learning, due to its high functionality.”

“IPTV is a global phenomenon which has sparked a great deal of interest in emerging telecommunications markets around the world,” noted Bob Giddy, CEO, Amino. “Our distribution partnerships at the heart of these markets will allow us to better serve the growing current and future demand for digital TV services and allow us to provide high levels of technical support to customers and end-users.”
